Tbilisi City Court Judge Ketevan Jachvadze remanded in custody 11 people detained during a protest rally in front of the Parliament in December, 2024.
The defendants were charged with participating in group violence during the protests [Part 2 of Article 225 of the Georgian Criminal Code], which carries a penalty of 4 to 6 years’ imprisonment. They will remain in custody until March.
The defendants, whose cases were combined into one, include actor Andro Chichinadze, comedian Onise Tskhadadze, as well as Guram Mirtskhulava, Luka Jabua, Jano Archaya, Ruslan Sivakov, Revaz Kiknadze, Giorgi Terashvili, Valeri Tetrashvili, Sergei Kukharchuk, and Irakli Kerashvili.
The lawyers requested that the defendants be released without a preventive measure, and as an alternative, they asked the court to release them on bail of GEL 1,000 or GEL 10,000, while some of the lawyers entrusted the court with determining the amount of the bail.
The Prosecutor’s Office requested that all the defendants remain in custody.
