Great Britain imposes sanctions on judges Levan Murusidze and Mikheil Chinchaladze

Great Britain imposes sanctions on judges Levan Murusidze [member of the High Council of Justice of Georgia and member of the Tbilisi Court of Appeals] and Mikheil Chinchaladze [Chairman of the Tbilisi Court of Appeals].

"Today the UK has announced a package of sanctions against individuals and entities based in Georgia, Moldova and Guatemala under the UK’s Global Anti-Corruption Sanctions Regulations 2021. By targeting both the perpetrators of serious corruption and their enablers, the UK government uses its sanctions powers to make the UK a more hostile environment for corrupt actors to operate in.

This includes sanctions against two Georgian Judges who are involved in serious corruption, influencing the Georgian judicial system for personal gain. This undermines the rule of law and the public`s faith in an independent judicial system.

The package is the latest action in the Foreign Secretary`s campaign to tackle corruption and dirty money around the world", - reads the statement.
