An agreement has been signed with a foreign company to complete the rehabilitation of the Varketili metro station in a short time. Such a statement made today the Mayor of Tbilisi.

"The necessary steps for the rehabilitation of Varketili Underground Station were planned as early as 2018. The primary reason for the process delay has been the lack of experience and qualification among local design, construction, and expert organizations in the underground transport sector.

In the course of the expertise of the updated project, the Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau requested an in-depth study of the reinforced concrete structures, which turned out to be quite challenging to implement with the resources of local expert organizations.

As a result, we had to involve foreign experts with experience in similar underground station projects. As you know, the Tbilisi Metro was built during the Soviet era. To complete the rehabilitation of Varketili Underground Station as quickly as possible, we have signed a contract with the Belarusian Company ProBuild Expert LLC, which is currently conducting a full structural survey of the reinforced concrete elements and preparing a renovation project.

Meanwhile, the construction company Bada Construction has already completed the full dismantling of the old ceiling, demolition, and renovation of internal utility spaces under the platform.

The materials needed for the installation of the new ceiling structure have already been ordered. The rehabilitation project of Varketili Underground Station is scheduled to be completed in September of this year", - said Kakha Kaladze.
