
Based on the joint endorsement by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili awarded Orders of Honor and Honor Medals to the men`s national handball team members, coaches, and personnel, and the National Handball Federation`s leadership.
The Head of Government congratulated the men`s national handball team members, coaches, and personnel, and the National Handball Federation`s representatives on receiving state awards and wished them success.
"I have nothing but gratitude for the success you have achieved. For 30 years, we have been waiting to qualify for the European Championship, and it is your generation that has achieved this major success, which is just the beginning of a new stage poised to bring greater successes to the development of Georgian handball. The further success of our handball must build on the illustrious traditions it boasts", - Irakli Kobakhidze said.
He thanked the handball players, the Handball Federation`s President Vakhtang Meipariani, Head Coach Tite Kalandadze, also each employee of the federation for this success, also discussing the Government`s plans for this sport.
"One of our key priorities and tasks is to promote the development of sports infrastructure. Along with athletic success, the interest in sports grows, especially among children, which makes me really happy. At this point, however, our infrastructure cannot meet this growing demand. We have announced a two-billion project seeking to build brand-new infrastructure designated for both high-performance and mass sports. Under this project, special attention will be paid to the development of handball", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
The awarding ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace on Atoneli.
