Ukraine should give land to Russia as part of any deal to end the war, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has suggested, writes The Telegraph.
"I think both sides need to understand that there is no military solution to this situation. The Russians cannot occupy all of Ukraine, and it will certainly be very difficult for Ukraine in any reasonable period of time to force the Russians back to where they were in 2014", - Rubio told reporters as he flew to Saudi Arabia for difficult talks with Ukrainian officials on Tuesday.
He earlier said that the US ban on sending weapons and intelligence to Ukraine could be lifted tomorrow, if the Saudi meeting goes well.
Washington`s top diplomat said the White House first needed to understand what concessions Kiev would be willing to make before resuming military aid, adding that Ukraine must be "prepared to do hard things, as the Russians will do": "I think the notion of a pause in aid, in general, is something that I hope we can resolve. Obviously what happens tomorrow will be key to that".
