
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia hosted the non-resident ambassadors-designate to Georgia.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Giorgi Zurabashvili addressed the ambassadors of Belgium, Luxembourg, Cyprus, the Philippines, Cambodia, Guatemala, Somalia, Burundi, Mali, Tajikistan and Pakistan, extending his best wishes for their future diplomatic missions.
In his remarks, the Deputy Minister outlined Georgia’s foreign policy priorities, including the country’s European Union integration process. He also highlighted the key security and stability challenge facing Georgia - the occupation of the Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions - and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to a peaceful resolution of the conflict. He emphasized the crucial importance of supporting the non-recognition policy in this regard.
Further, Giorgi Zurabashvili elaborated on the role of embassies in strengthening bilateral relations.
“Embassies play a crucial role in fostering cooperation. They serve as bridges between governments, cultures, and people. By enhancing our collaboration, we build a network of trust, efficiency, and shared knowledge that benefits all parties”, - said the Deputy Minister.
On 6 March 2025, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Republic of Guatemala signed Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of political consultations. The document was signed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgi Zurabashvili and Guatemala’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Georgia (residing in Ankara), Eduardo Enrique Hernández Recinos.
