The Ministry of Internal Affairs releases the statement regarding Giorgi Bachiashvili.

“We would like to provide the public with the information currently available to the investigation regarding the alleged illegal crossing of the state border by G.B.

The Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is conducting an investigation under Article 344, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

Within the framework of the ongoing criminal investigation, it has been established at this stage that G.B. secretly crossed the state border of Georgia on March 2, bypassing the border checkpoint, using a special hiding place in a vehicle, in the direction of Armenia, and at the Armenian border checkpoint, he presented another passport confirming his citizenship of the Russian Federation, as a result of which he managed to cross the border.

All relevant investigative actions are actively in progress at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, with the aim of identifying and detaining individuals who participated in the commission of the aforementioned crime.

The Ministry will provide information on the results to the public in stages. G.B. was charged with illegal crossing of the state border in absentia”, - reads the statement.
