Giorgi Okmelashvili has been sentenced to 5 years in prison

Giorgi Okmelashvili, founder of the advertising agency Limon, has been sentenced to five years in prison for allegedly attacking a police officer.

Tbilisi City Court Judge Giorgi Gelashvili issued that verdict.

Okmelashvili was detained during the protests on May 15, 2024. His lawyer, Koba Baramia, said he “had no expectation of a different decision. He confirmed that the defense will appeal the ruling.

Okmelashvili was convicted under Article 353 Prima, Part 1 of the Criminal Code, which criminalizes assaults on law enforcement officers.
