Georgia is facing significant disinformation and attempts to isolate its Government. Such a statement the President of Georgia made in the interview with the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung.
“We see a large-scale disinformation campaign and efforts to isolate the Georgian government while presenting reality from a distorted perspective. I am participating in the elections for the ninth time, and compared to the previous elections, these elections were probably the best. The results did not surprise the majority of Georgian citizens.
My predecessor claims that the elections were falsified by the Georgian Dream with the backing of Russian intelligence services, and this narrative was amplified by global media. Spreading such disinformation is unacceptable from the President of the country.
International media interviewed my predecessor and spread only her perspective. No one tried to hear the Government’s stance. For Europeans, this sounded credible, but isn’t that an insult to European citizens?” – said Mikheil Kavelashvili.
