The Special Investigation Service [SIS] of Georgia has initiated an investigation under Article 333, Part 3 of the Criminal Code, regarding possible abuse of official authority by the Ministry of Internal Affairs employees against protesters on Davit Agmashenebeli Alley in Tbilisi on February 2.

“The SIS receives reports via a hotline, from temporary detention centres, and the Ombudsman’s Office, and takes appropriate legal action. Investigative and procedural measures are currently being planned and carried out.

Police will update the public on the progress and outcomes of the investigation in stages”, - reads the statement.
