What matters to us is not what league we are in at the moment, but where we are heading - Willy Sagnol

What matters to us is not what league we are in at the moment, but where we are heading, it’s a long, interesting and exciting journey. Such a statement made today Willy Sagnol, Georgia’s national football team head coach, while talking about the upcoming Georgia vs. Armenia football match in March.

“In the UEFA Nations League playoffs, a Caucasian derby is coming up. The match between the two neighbouring countries should be interesting. It’s good that we won’t have to endure a long journey. This will be our last official match before the start of the World Cup qualifying stage, and I hope we will play at a high level.

Hosting the second match at home did not necessarily offer a significant advantage. I don’t think it has much significance in modern football. However, I hope that with the support of our fans, we will gain a significant advantage in the return leg”, - explained Willy Sagnol.

Georgian national football team will face Armenia in the Nations League play-off match to retain their place in Division B.
