As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with the Kvemo Kartli District Prosecutor’s Office, two persons were detained on the fact of storage of excisable cigarettes subject to marking, without excise marks, in particularly large quantities.

As a result of investigative activities, total number of 83 500 boxes of different brands of non-excised cigarettes, intended for sale, were seized from the houses of the accused persons, in Kvemo Kartli region. Total market value of the seized goods equals GEL 403 600.

Investigation is underway under the second and third parts of Article 200 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 6 to 8 years.
