Questioning of the President of the National Bank has completed at the Tbilisi City Court.

Natia Turnava testified in the case of Giorgi Bachiashvili [former Head of the Co-Investment Fund, who is accused of misappropriating the cryptocurrency of Bidzina Ivanishvili].

“The meeting was closed... Any of our actions are conditioned by the law, if the bank is to fined, we fine it... The National Bank operates within the framework of the law. We impose fines on banks when necessary”, - said Natia Turnava.

As it known, the National Bank fined Cartu Bank in 2023 and she was questioned about this fact.

The charges brought against Giorgi Bachiashvili relate to 2017 actions. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, he transferred only USD 536,900 to the investor in exchange for the full profit received from the investment, and misappropriated the remaining 8,986 Bitcoins belonging to the investor, the value of which at the time of its misappropriation amounted to up to USD 43 million.
