The Finance and Budget Committee supported the amendment to the Law on Grants in the second reading
The legislative amendment, initiated by the government, was presented by the government’s parliamentary secretary. As Vakhtang Bachiashvili said, the bill grants the right to issue grants to a public legal entity designated by the Georgian government, whose chartered purpose will be to support civil society organizations.
The amendment stems from the government’s objective, outlined in the governmental program, to ensure support for civic initiatives. To support these civic initiatives, the state budget has allocated 20 million GEL for the current year.
The bill is being reviewed under an expedited procedure.
