Tbilisi City Hall starts the rehabilitation of Rustaveli Avenue - Kakha Kaladze

Several large and important infrastructure projects will be implemented this year, including the complete renovation of Rustaveli Avenue. Such a statement made today the Mayor of Tbilisi.

"As you know, we are planning a complete rehabilitation of Rustaveli Avenue. The road is worn out, and in poor condition, with frequent surface damage and road collapses, precisely because the underground infrastructure is in poor condition. We will probably start rehabilitation works in May and plan to complete the project by the end of summer.

The avenue will undergo radical changes, featuring a new design that will be comfortable and, of course, adapted for people with disabilities. I am confident that the project will be charming and effective when completed. Certainly, we won’t stop there – we also plan to rehabilitate the existing buildings. Most of these buildings are cultural heritage monuments. The second phase will involve the rehabilitation of these monuments, which will be a multi-year project, as we want not only to restore the facades but reinforce and renovate the buildings on Rustaveli Avenue completely.

Rehabilitation project will include the complete replacement of underground utility networks, installation of sidewalks, outdoor lighting networks, and underground waste collection bins. Additionally, the road will be paved with asphalt and public transport stops will be nestled", - said Kakha Kaladze.
