The Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee endorsed the Action Plan 2025.
The Committee’s primary objective is to formulate the state policy on the matters within its purview of activity, facilitate the development of the lawmaking process, and supervise the Government of Georgia and the institutions accountable to the Parliament. In light of these functions, the Committee has developed an Action Plan, which is grounded on the outcomes of the Committee’s scrutiny of the needs, as well as the analysis of national and international reports on the human rights situation in the country.
The Plan addresses the issues raised during consultations with the target groups.
Priorities include civil and political rights protection, socio-economic rights improvement, facilitating civic integration, ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities, enhancing the legal status of children, guaranteeing women’s rights, and protecting the rights of accused persons, convicts, and aggrieved parties.
The Committee endeavors to draw attention to the oversight of the bodies accountable to Parliament and the consideration of special reports. It also seeks to ensure parliamentary oversight of the national human rights policy implementation and the oversight of the fulfillment of international agreements. This oversight will be achieved through the regulated parliamentary oversight mechanisms.
At that juncture, the Committee’s primary responsibility in 2025 will be to engage in effective representative activities. Capacity building, as well as fostering internal institutional and multisectoral cooperation will continue to be the Committee’s core functions.
The Action Plan, along with the tasks, activities, and respective assignments, also encompasses information regarding responsible Committee members, partner agencies, and organizations
