The Committee discussed the Draft Law on General Education for the II reading, introduced by the Deputy Education Minister, Nodar Papukashvili.

The amendment extends the basic grade by 1 year to constitute a 4-year period. Hence, the 3-year secondary education is reduced to 2 years to maintain the full academic process within 12 years. It is as well noteworthy that the contextual part of the subject standards of the basic grade (for instance, biology, geography, history, civil education etc.) shall be distributed to four grades to mitigate the mandatory educational load on children per grade.

The Committee approved the Draft.
