We have started to consider the appropriate responses of the EU in case of the adoption of the Law on Transparency, the decision will be made in June. Such a statement made today the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, at the press conference held in Brussels after the end of the EU Foreign Affairs Council.
“We exchanged views on the developments surrounding the Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence in Georgia. Some member states have found it not so important, not so sad, some believe that this law is against the norms and values of the European Union.
The report of the Venice Commission was mentioned, and according to the said report, we call on the authorities to revoke this law. We have started to consider the appropriate responses of the EU in case of the adoption of the law and the decision will be made at the EU Foreign Affairs Council in June, but I would like the members of the EU to be ready to make decisions every time something happens that does not correspond to our values, does not correspond to international law, does not correspond to the European way, not only in Georgia, but in the whole world”, - said Josep Borrell.
