Parliament of Georgia endorsing Draft Law on Grants

Parliament reviewed and adopted the draft law on amendments to the Law of Georgia on Grants in its third reading, with 80 votes in favor. The government’s legislative initiative was presented at the plenary session by the Government"s Parliamentary Secretary, Vakhtang Bachiashvili.

According to the draft law, the right to issue grants will be granted to a public legal entity determined by the Government of Georgia, whose charter aims to support public organizations.

Additionally, a provision will be added to the Law on Grants, which authorizes the head of the specified public legal entity to issue normative and/or individual administrative-legal acts as needed.

According to the presenter, the amendment stems from a government objective outlined in its program to support civil initiatives. A budget allocation of 20 million GEL is planned for this purpose in the current year.
