Further development of connectivity function is a special priority of Georgia-Azerbaijan bilateral cooperation - Irakli Kobakhidze

Further development of the connectivity function is a high priority for our country, and it is also a high priority for bilateral cooperation. Such a statement the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, made during the joint press statements after a face-to-face meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

“We, the two countries, can play a special role together in terms of connectivity. We geographically connect Europe and Asia, the West and the East, and we must maximize this potential. This is precisely what the projects that have already been implemented with the participation of the two states serve, I am talking about strategic projects, and as already mentioned, there are ongoing and planned projects that will contribute to the maximum utilization of this function by our states.

We are ready to further deepen our partnership in this regard and work actively. Bilateral trade and economic relations are very important, and we are pleased that in recent years Azerbaijan has been among the top-5 of our trade partners.

Here, it is also very important to further deepen our partnership, and we discussed this at today’s commission session, as well as at bilateral meetings. Our relations and cooperation have a very solid foundation, which is historical friendship between our peoples. It is our responsibility to our peoples to take maximum care of further deepening our political and economic cooperation on the basis of this friendship.

The Georgian side will do everything for this. I would like to thank our Azerbaijani friends, partners, personally Mr. President, for their cooperation and support, for the extraordinary partnership. In this spirit, maximum cooperation and friendship will be ensured from our side. We are looking forward to President Aliyev’s visit to Georgia and we have great hope that this year we will have the opportunity to host him in our country”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
