Minister of Internal Affairs, Vice-Prime Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri hosted a mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The meeting was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Shalva Bedoidze, as well as Deputy Ministers of Internal Affairs - Aleksandre Darakhvelidze and Giorgi Butkhuzi.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the measures taken by the Ministry of Internal Affairs during the parliamentary elections held last year. Furthermore, the Minister of Internal Affairs also provided the co-rapporteurs of the PACE with detailed information regarding the illegal actions taken by the violent participants of the demonstrations, during the recent events on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi, and the effective measures taken by the Police.
During the visit, members of the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) hold meetings with representatives of various sectors, including the heads of the legislative and executive bodies of Georgia, as well as the Public Defender.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their willingness for further cooperation and information sharing.
