The inaugural meeting of the Government Commission designed to support the organization of the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival Bakuriani 2025 was held under the chairmanship of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
The commission"s members discussed organizational issues to ensure the management of the Olympics.
For the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2025, the Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure will build a biathlon and cross-country skiing area and a 3.5-kilometer course in Bakuriani, while also constructing an ice palace in Tbilisi.
Active work is underway on the construction of biathlon and cross-country skiing courses and infrastructure connecting to them. Water supply and power systems are being set up to produce artificial snow for skiing courses. The construction of the ice palace in Tbilisi is in its final stage.
Designed to host hockey, figure skating, and curling tournaments, the Tbilisi Ice Palace will accommodate about 700 spectators.
The relevant projects are financed with over 50 million GEL from the budget.
The Government Commission was established at the order of the Government with a view to facilitating the organization of the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival Bakuriani 2025. The commission ensures coordination between the agencies and organizations involved in the organization of the festival, also promptly solving matters pertaining to the festival.
Georgia will host the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in February 2025.
