The Chair of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee, Givi Mikanadze participated in the opening ceremony of the XVI International Conference on the History of the Language Sciences.

The Conference on the History of the Language Sciences is held every three years. This year, the XVI Conference is hosted by Tbilisi State University and Giorgi Akhvlediani Society For The History Of Linguistics.

Within the framework of the opening ceremony, Mikanadze addressed the attendees, accentuating the paramount value of the official language as one of the key attributes of the national identity.

Per his elucidation, the Conference serves as the best platform for sharing information and experience between the Georgian and international scientific and academic figures.

The ceremony was as well attended by the Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Tamar Makharashvili; the Rector of TSU, Jaba Samushia; and the Chair of the Department of the Official Language, Giorgi Alibegashvili.
