On the 16th anniversary of the August 2008 Russia-Georgia war, Georgian Public Defender visited Goraka and Sakorintlo villages near the occupation line. Levan Ioseliani met with locals and inquired about their concerns.

Locals complained about the lack of irrigation water and the need to arrange a children’s playground.

“Regrettably, 16 years on, we still speak about occupation, which is devastating for locals residing near the occupation line in many aspects, including security and being internally displaced. The situation gets tenser with such events as it occurred in Kirbali when Tamaz Ginturi was killed”, - said Levan Ioseliani.
