Bidzina Ivanishvili, Honorary Chair of the Georgian Dream party, and his spouse Ekaterine Khvedelidze expressed their “deep sorrow” over the death of Tengiz Tsertsvadze, the Head of the Infectious Diseases and AIDS Centre.
“We express deep sorrow over the death of Tengiz Tsertsvadze, a Georgian immunologist, professor, doctor of medicine, Director General of the Center for Infectious Pathology, AIDS and Clinical Immunology.
Mr. Tengiz’s contribution to the development of Georgian healthcare is great, which has been recognised not only nationally, but also internationally - he was a member of the New York Academy of Sciences [and] a member of the American Society of Infectious Diseases.
His role in Georgia’s successful management of the COVID-19 pandemic is outstanding. Mr. Tengiz, together with his colleagues, always stood on guard for the health of the Georgian society, and the fight against the pandemic was no exception”, - reads the statement.
