Election Administration commences nationwide demonstration of voting technologies

The Election Administration (EA) of Georgia moves to the next stage of informing voters and commences a new project as part of the extensive information campaign. The ‘Nationwide Demonstration of Electronic Elections’ is scheduled to be organized from July 6 of the ongoing year, aiming at informing voters about introduction of voting technologies as well as improvement of practical skills for voting procedures.

The project entails both theoretical and practical components to inform voters. As part of the project, voters will firsthand experience the functioning of the verification and vote counting devices, a simulation of polling will be arranged, in particular, the interested parties will personally complete the voting procedures under supervision of the election administrators, including coloring of sample circle, coloring the circle place on the ballot paper, placement of the ballot paper in the frame envelope as well as placement of ballot paper in the vote counting device (box) for ensuring the principle of secrecy. The voters will gain detailed information pertaining to the utilization of voting devices and the pilot electronic elections, being already held in Georgia.

The project is scheduled to be implemented throughout Georgia, in the 64 municipalities, Tbilisi and the administrative centers of Georgia’s regions, at the preliminarily chosen 89 locations. For participation, the interested individuals shall electronically register on the following link: https://calendly.com/d/ck3d-mpp-4v6, and choose the preferable date and time from June 26, 2024. Detailed instruction is available on the CEC Official Website and its social network platforms. For further information, contact us on 2 51 00 51 (the CEC Contact Hub).

The meetings will take place from July 6 to July 28, on each Saturday and Sunday, from 11 a. m. to 6 p. m.

The EA calls upon voters to participate in the process of nationwide demonstration of voting technologies and familiarize themselves with the way they function. It is noteworthy that any interested individual is entitled to participation, including those, who have already taken part in the various information events of the CEC at several times.

We would like to remind you that the Parliamentary Elections and each forthcoming election will be held by utilizing the voting technologies as per the electoral reform, being recently introduced in Georgia. Nearly 90 % of voters will take part in the upcoming elections by using voting technologies. The procedures regarding the voter verification (registration) and casting a vote are being amended. Accordingly, informing and educating voters about the technological innovations stand among the key priorities of the EA.

The large-scale information campaign, which also corresponds to the international standards and recommendations, is commenced by the EA a year and a half before the general elections. The demonstration of electronic voting technologies is being constantly held at several stages throughout Georgia, at the places of public gathering, public and private institutions. It is noteworthy that more than 3 000 meetings are held and approximately 400 000 voters are informed for the time being.

The Election Administration of Georgia will regularly organize the activities and projects, focusing on enhancing voters’ awareness before the end of elections.
