The employees of the Central Criminal Police, Patrol Police, Tbilisi, Adjara, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Guria, Kakheti and Imereti Police Departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the General Prosecutor"s Office, as a result of recent held operational measures and investigative actions, arrested 27 people on charges of drug crimes, including 15 drug dealers.
Among the arrested are both Georgian and foreign citizens.
Various types of large and particularly large amounts of narcotic drugs were seized by the law enforcement officers as evidence. On the basis of the court decision, police made control purchases of drugs from persons arrested on charges of illegal selling of drugs several times and secretly audio-video recorded the process.
The committed crimes envision up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
During the personal search and search activities held in residential places of the persons arrested on charges of drug-related crimes, the law enforcement officers also seized a large amount of narcotics, including: “heroin”, “cocaine”, “buprenorphine”, “morphine”, “thebaine” from various locations indicated by them as well as “codeine”, “methadone”, “alpha pvp”, “mephedrone”, “clephedrone”, “methamphetamine”, “lyrica” and “marijuana”.
The police also seized a large amount of money and electronic scales from the defendants as evidence.
The facts are being investigated under articles 260, 261, 262, 265, 18-260, 19-260, 273, 19-273 Prime and 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
