Only Girchi from the opposition attends the discussion of the legislative package “On Family Values and Protection of Minors”

At the joint session of the 4 committees of the Parliament, opposition does not participate in the discussion of the legislative package prepared against the so-called LGBT propaganda.

Only MP from Girchi, Vakhtang Megrelishvili, was present at the session. He asked a question to speaker Rati Ionatamishvili and left the hall after the answer.

The parliamentary discussion of the issue started today and is jointly discussed by the Human Rights and Civil Integration; Education, Science and Youth Affairs; Sectoral Economy and Economic Policy; Health Care and Social Affairs committees.

The changes are scheduled to be discussed at the Legal Issues Committee today.

“The opposition does not attend the committee discussion, thereby making a statement in front of our society that they oppose the adoption of the legislation. Or they avoid the responsibility to enter into the substantive discussion of this issue”, - said Givi Mikanadze, Chairman of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee.

As it known, the legislative package consists of 19 bills. The main one of them is the bill called “On Family Values and Protection of Minors”.

The author and initiators of the legislative package are Chairman of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili and members of the majority: Mamuka Mdinaradze, Anri Okhanashvili, Rati Ionatamishvili, Maka Botchorishvili, David Matikashvili, Tengiz Sharmanashvili, Irakli Shatakishvili and Sozar Subari.
