The process of selecting candidates for the position of Supreme Court judge starts today in the Parliament. There are three candidates nominated by the Supreme Council of Justice: Gizo Ubilava, Badri Shonia and Gocha Jeiranashvili. They will answer the questions of the MPs at the Legal Affairs Committee.
The majority says that the integrity and competence of the judges will be the main selection criteria.
“There are three candidates for three vacant positions. Accordingly, we have the space to either select all three and the next Parliament will elect all of them, or make a corresponding decision if it decides that all 3are not appropriate to be elected”, - said Anri Okhanashvili, Chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee.
