Rati Ionatamishvili, the Chairman of the Georgian Dream faction in the Parliament, met Sachin Dev Pavithran, the Executive Director of the US Accessibility Council, Alison Levy, Director of Technology and Information Access, and the Disability Justice Officer of the Department of State Eslan Ellison.
At the Conclusion of the 17th Assembly of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the parties discussed standards of communication and web accessibility for people with disabilities, good international practices and legal frameworks.
During the meeting, the National accessibility standards approved by the Georgian Government, which was based on the principles of universal design, were “positively” evaluated.
The parties agreed on future ways and the necessity of close cooperation.
The US Council on Accessibility is an independent state agency that coordinates issues of accessibility of the physical environment, transportation, services, information, and technology for people with disabilities in the US at the federal level.
