The development of sports is crucially important to us. Our sports are developing on a daily basis, and we have exceptional achievements, Georgian Prime Minister stated in his speech at the opening ceremony of a new football stadium in Marneuli.

As the Head of Government pointed out, it is equally important to pursue the development of both big-time and mass sports.

“Today, a wonderful stadium, built in line with UEFA standards, is about to open. It has been built as a UEFA Category 2 stadium. All relevant equipment is in place. The stadium meets the needs of persons with disabilities. And, most importantly, contemplating such a beautiful stadium is very pleasing to the eye. It is equally important to pursue the development of both big-time and mass sports, because sports stand for a healthier society, healthier youth, youth on the right track, the reason why everything will be done to continue caring for the development of sports. The Ministry of Infrastructure is working actively on opening such sites”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.

He thanked the Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Minister Irakli Karseladze, and Minister of Culture and Sport Thea Tsulukiani for their efforts toward the development of sports.

“I am thankful to the Football Federation and President of the Football Federation Levan Kobiashvili. Everything will be done to care for sports, notably football, a sport we take enormous pride in. Once again, I would like to congratulate you, especially children and young people. I am convinced that this stadium will see the rise of many champions”, - added the Prime Minister.

The participants of the opening event of the new football stadium in Marneuli were also addressed with speeches by Georgia’s Vice Prime Minister/Minister of Culture and Sport Thea Tsulukiani, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Irakli Karseladze, and President of the Football Federation Levan Kobiashvili.

The design and construction works for the new football stadium in Marneuli were financed with 8.2 million GEL from the state budget. The new stadium will host both local and international tournaments.
