Mikheil Saakashvili has announced his support for President Salome Zourabichvili’s “Georgian Charter”.

Speaking remotely via a video link during his trial, he confirmed that the United National Movement [UNM] would sign the Charter within the next few hours.

“I fully support the spirit of this charter. It is crucial for as many political forces as possible to join. It is necessary to coordinate efforts behind a single presidential candidate and form the most unified electoral lists. There is no alternative. We all should understand this.

I call on the UNM to assess the ratings of each party. We are ready to allocate half of our quotas to other parties. A complete redistribution won’t work because there must be a voter’s representative. Unity has no alternative in this situation”, - said the former president.
