Parliamentary majority is preparing to override President’s veto on Transparency Law

The Parliament of Georgia is preparing to override the veto of the President on the Law on Transparency.

The issue was discussed yesterday [May 27] at the sitting of the Legal Affairs Committee, where Salome Zourabichvili’s parliamentary secretary had failed to use the last legal chance to speak about the validity of the President’s veto and to review the law.

As the Georgian Dream said it turned out to be another lustration of the argumentless fight against transparency and noted “the veto on the law, which ensures the country’s sovereignty and public awareness, will definitely be overridden”.

The Legal Affairs Committee of the Georgian Parliament did not support the motivated remarks of Zourabichvili regarding the Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence.
