Chairman of the Central Election Commission meets OSCE/ODIHR officials

The Chairman of the Central Election Commission and visiting representatives of the Organisation for Security and Co-Operation in Europe’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights discussed the preparation process for the upcoming parliamentary elections in 2024.

The sides reviewed the procedures related to the introduction of electronic technology in elections, including a large-scale information campaign and voter education.

Giorgi Kalandarishvili highlighted the advantages of wide-scale use of e-voting to ensure the elections are conducted under international and European standards.

“It is important for us to maintain the highest standards of election integrity and transparency. Cooperation with ODIHR is crucial in this regard, and we are ready to provide verified and objective information to the representatives of the mission. We are focused on transparency and are open to constructive feedback that will help us improve our practices”, - said Giorgi Kalandarishvili.

He confirmed the CEC’s readiness to “closely cooperate” with the ODIHR mission and emphasised the need for “constant communication and cooperation”, stressing the support and supervision provided by the mission were “invaluable”.
