When country becomes a member of EU, it gives up a significant part of its sovereignty, but when a minister of a particular country makes this statement at a rally of political minorities, it is disturbing - Kobakhidze

When a country becomes a member of the EU, at that time it gives up a significant part of its sovereignty, that is a fact, but when the foreign minister of a particular country makes this statement in the context of the participation of political minorities, it certainly causes some concern. Such a comment the Prime Minister of Georgia made in Ankara, while commenting the statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.

“A few months ago, one of our team members mentioned that joining the EU meant giving up part of the sovereignty, then he faced a lot of criticism from our political opponents, and today this simple truth was repeated 3 times by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.

This is a fact in itself, when a country becomes a member of the European Union, at that time it gives up a significant part of its sovereignty, this is a fact, but when the foreign minister of a particular country makes this statement in the context of the participation of political minorities, it certainly causes some concern. Talking about giving up sovereignty in this context, I think, is a matter of serious concern”, - Irakli Kobakhidze.
