This law is a symbol of the choice between Russia and the European Union. Such a statement the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia made at the press conference held in Tbilisi together with his European counterparts and the President of Georgia.

“We did not come here to give lectures about what Georgian people should do or should not do. Elections are held for this purpose in democratic states, and I believe that the Georgian people know what their future is. We came here as true friends, not to advocate, but only to voice the facts. We know that living next door to Russia is very dangerous and, unfortunately, being in the middle is not an option. Russia has put all the neighboring countries in such a position that we have to choose whether to be on the side of freedom or on the side of Russia, and that is the choice. We care about Georgian people, we are historically best friends and you know it. We have been supporting Georgia and its reforms for decades and we share the view that the best guarantee of a democratic and successful Georgia is to join the EU. This law violates human rights, civil liberties and everything the EU stands for.
