Certain groups are trying to organize provocations during rallies in front of the Parliament – SSSG

The certain groups are trying to organize provocations during rallies in front of the Parliament, which aim at developing destructive and violent scenarios and which are managed with funding from foreign countries. Such a statement was released by the State Security Service of Georgia.

“In the interests of state security and peaceful coexistence of citizens, we would like to inform the public that, according to the information received, certain groups of individuals are trying to organize provocations during the current actions at the Parliament of Georgia, which are aimed at the development of destructive and violent scenarios and which are organized with funding from foreign countries, parliamentary and non-parliamentary specific by leaders of political parties and heads of non-governmental organizations. Georgian citizens outside the country are actively involved in the mentioned criminal plans, in particular, a specific part of Georgians fighting in Ukraine, who declare their readiness to come to Georgia and actively participate in the planned violence against the police. The persons mentioned above are in active communication with their associates in Georgia and are discussing plans to block and paralyze the parliament, Government administration and other government buildings.

Individuals are actively discussing plans to attack a special task force if necessary, leading to a full escalation of the situation. In order to neutralize the special purpose squad and the police, the organizers of criminal actions, in many cases without revealing the real reasons, instruct young people carrying protest charges to bring easily flammable substances in front of the parliament, which will later be used in order to make the so-called “Molotov cocktails” and to use them for confrontation with the law enforcement officers, they were given the task of secretly bringing stones and iron batons to the rally.

In the course of the current protests, its organizers, in order to provoke mass disorder, chaos and law enforcement agencies, are guided by the instructions issued by foreign instructors and actively use the methods of violent training conducted by the organization “CANVAS” and Peter Ackerman and provoking events similar to the civil strife of the 90s in the country.

As a part of the said destructive plan, individual politicians and radical organizers of the action definitely consider the paralyzing of Tbilisi’s traffic junctions, blocking-barricading of access roads to government institutions and strategic facilities, blocking of the railway, the so-called central avenues. Setting up tent cities, blocking deployment bases of law enforcement agencies. Funds received from abroad are used for the implementation of the mentioned criminal plans, and in their opinion, they use crypto-currency in many cases to cover their tracks. At the end of April of this year, trainings were held in Georgia by foreign instructors about transactions related to cryptocurrency, where the organizers of the action received instructions on secretly receiving funding for radical actions.

In order to promote and achieve the success of the said criminal action, they believe that the employees of the law enforcement agencies should be provoked. Moreover, even a single shot from the interested party will cause panic, stampede, and consequently serious injuries and casualties among the demonstrators. For the organizers of the rally, it is desirable that the protests should lead to human casualties.

According to them, the mentioned unfortunate results will increase the protest charge and radicalism.

The special target of the protest organizers’ aggression are the employees of the law enforcement agency. In order to demoralize and provoke them, such methods related to the so-called “color revolutions”, such as threatening them, bribing them, staging their transition to the side of the participants of the protest, which ultimately aims to collapse the state structures and overthrow the government by violent means.

We call on the young people participating in the protests not to follow provocations, and we appeal to the organizers that in case of the implementation of their destructive plans, immediate legal measures will be taken by the law-enforcement agencies in order to prevent the escalation of events, to rule out disorder, civil conflict in the country, and to maintain peace”, - reads the statement.
