The Ministry of Internal Affairs issues a statement regarding the recent developments in Tbilisi.
“We would like to clarify to the public that the Ministry of Internal Affairs had an information that certain political forces and organizers of the manifestation were planning to hold the so-called “performance”, in particular, they allegedly plotted to stage violent actions as if from the side of the law enforcement officers, they were also planning to appear at the manifestation in uniforms of various structural MIA units, spreading the information as if police forces joined the protest.
It is notable that participants of recent protests, in the course of the gathering-manifestation also appeal to the police through various media sources and make calls in their direction to join the protest.
As they failed to achieve their goal, supporters of the protest rally are openly requiring information in various social networks, on how to find police uniforms and equipment.
We call on the representatives of political parties, organizers of the rally and persons with mentioned intentions to refrain from such prevocational actions and respect the professional activities of law enforcement officers”, - reads the statement of MIA.
