Georgia to receive almost EUR 23.2 million from ADB in 2024 to strengthen its healthcare sector

A Loan Agreement was signed between Georgia and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the program of strengthening the healthcare sector in the county.

The document was signed by H.E. Lasha Khutsishvili, Minister of Finance of Georgia and Lesley Bearman Lahm, Country Director of ADB for Georgia.

In total, financial resources in the amount of 46 275 000 Euros will be allocated by the Bank. According to the Loan Agreement, the first tranche of 23 137 500 Euros will be disbursed in 2024, while the second one is anticipated in 2025.

The program envisages increased benefits offered to the population at the level of primary healthcare, specialized outpatient care and diagnostic services, thereby reducing barriers to financial access, improving service delivery at all levels, also improving digital information systems needed to more effectively manage healthcare programs and public funds management in the healthcare sector, improving governance and accountability for service quality.
