The employees of Batumi Police Division of Adjara Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions, detained foreign citizens: S.Ch (DoB 1975) and H.E. (DoB 1976).

They are accused of extortion committed in group with an intent of gaining large amount of property.

The committed crime envisions from 4 to 7 years of imprisonment.

The investigation established that the defendants, who worked in a cafe-bar located in Batumi, extorted an inappropriately large amount - 267,000 Turkish liras and 5,700 GEL from the foreign visitors of the same cafe-bar, for their orders, by using violence and threatening to take their lives.

Law enforcement officers arrested S.Ch. and H.E. as accused persons.

The investigation into the fact of extortion committed in order to receive property in large amounts is being conducted under Article 181 part II of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
