The Department of Environmental Supervision of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, has issued 4,567 fines for violations of emissions regulations after inspecting vehicles in the largest cities of Georgia between September and April.
According to the agency, its professionals had inspected the vehicles in Tbilisi, Rustavi, Kutaisi and Batumi.
“Most of the fines - 2,107 - were issued in the capital, with 977 fines handed out in Kutaisi, 812 in Batumi and 672 in Rustavi. 2,767 of the fines had been issued to personal vehicle drivers, 1,575 for minibus drivers, 225 for truck drivers and one for a bus driver. Individuals violating the norms are penalized between GEL 100-600, while legal entities are fined from GEL 500-3000”, - reads the statement of the mentioned Department.
