Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, who started his official visit to Argentina, has already met with the Vice President of Argentina Victoria Villarruel, who also serves as the President of the Senate, and Foreign Minister.

As Diana Mondino said, the strategic location at the crossroads of two continents would make Georgia a connecting “hub” between Europe and Asia.

In her remarks she noted that Argentina was one of the first countries to recognise Georgia’s independence in 1919 and has “continuous” diplomatic relations with Georgia.

“The traditional friendship between Georgia and Argentina will be further strengthened in the future.

The strategic location at the crossroads of two continents gives Georgia a chance to become a bridge connecting Europe and Asia and acquire the status of a hub. Georgia should have hope for Latin America on its development path.

Georgia and Argentina have many things in common, including the fact that both countries have the best wine. We must work together to be able to define new ways and perspectives of cooperation”, - said the Foreign Minister Diana Mondino.

To celebrate the visit of the Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili to Argentina, Mondino exhibited a historical decree by which the Argentinian President Hipólito Yrigoyen in 1919 recognised the independence of the first democratic republic of Georgia.
