The law on insulting religious feelings should be properly strict - Beka Davituliani

When someone’s religious feelings are insulted, which is a very sensitive issue, in order for the reaction to be adequate and fair, the law on such facts should be properly strict. Such a statement made today MP from the Georgian Dream, Beka Davituliani.

“The law needs to be tightened so that there is no place for street conflicts or street protest against those who have committed similar offences. This requires the law to be fair and responsibility to be moderate”, - added Beka Davituliani.

Activist Nata Peradze splashed paint onto the icon of St. Matrona in the Sameba [Holy Trinity] Cathedral, on which Joseph Stalin is also depicted.

As it became known yesterday [January 10], at the initiative of the ruling team, it is planned to introduce criminal liability for insulting religious buildings and religious objects.
