The death toll from earthquakes that continued in Japan since January 1, has reached 206 people, according to data published by the country’s local authorities.
At least 52 people are still listed as missing, with emergencies services being unable to contact them to confirm their whereabouts. At last count, the number of people who received injuries, equals 567. Around 28,000 residents of areas affected by the earthquakes are still at evacuation points.
More than 900 earthquakes have occurred in Japan since January 1. The strongest earthquake shock had magnitude of 7.6, becoming the most powerful in this part of the country since 1885, according to Japanese seismologists.
