Razhden Kuprashvili, Head of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, presented today, December 15, the annual report.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau places a high priority on exchanging experiences and actively collaborating with foreign organizations. “We have already managed to establish cooperation with the world’s leading organizations and to join their ranks”, said the Head of the Bureau.

He elaborated on the working process of drafting the National Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan: “We started by conducting a situational analysis, which involved holding meetings with all public institutions, processing information, communicating with municipalities, and cooperating with the non-governmental sector. As a result, working groups will be created, and we will begin preparing a strategy document for each public institution process”.

The Head of the Bureau emphasized the importance of the Anti-Corruption Bureau’s training center, which actively collaborates with major foreign institutions to research training programs and incorporate them into Georgian educational programs.

Razhden Kuprashvili presented statistics on the number of inspected officials during the year, completed monitoring cases, and individuals who were fined: “Prevention is the first step in the fight against corruption. One of the Bureau’s preventative mechanisms is controlling officials’ property status to ensure extreme transparency and accountability”.

The Head of the Bureau presented statistical data on the monitoring processes for the financing of political parties to the audience: “The responsibility of monitoring the financing of political parties was handed over to the Bureau from 1 September. At the initial stage, we conducted a situational analysis, identified existing challenges, and are currently working on ways to eliminate them”.

One of the important directions of the Bureau’s activity is the whistleblower mechanism. The Head of the Bureau noted that the Anti-Corruption Bureau has made significant strides forward in this regard. The event was attended by representatives of the executive and legislative authorities, the Mayor of Tbilisi, and members of the diplomatic corps.
