The Government is not going to relax on the back of the European Council’s decision to grant Georgia the European Union membership candidate status, as membership in the bloc is the ultimate goal of the authorities. Such a statement made today the Chairman of the Georgian Dream.
As Irakli Kobakhidze said, “everything will be done” to advance the country in European integration “in the shortest possible time” following the candidacy decision.
“Naturally, everything will be done to move forward in the direction of European integration in the shortest possible time, to open negotiations for Georgia, and, the ultimate goal is to join the European Union.
By fulfilling 12 priorities, we proved that we are doing everything on the way to European integration, which is what should be done by the Georgian government. Therefore, of course, the 9 priorities, which are 10 times smaller in volume compared to the 12 priorities, will also be fulfilled. We will prove that we not only want, but can do things on the path of European integration. Therefore, of course, exactly in this spirit, work will continue to fulfill the 9 priorities. It is their [opposition’s] business, it is not a matter of special importance, it is their [opposition’s] business, it is good for them to get involved, but it is their business”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
