Draft Government Decree approved today for the Communication Strategy of the Government of Georgia in 2024-2027

Draft Government Decree was approved today for the Communication Strategy of the Government of Georgia in 2024-2027.

Document developed by the Government Administration aims to create a common vision for a proactive, consistent and coordinated communication system between the Government of Georgia and the general public. It will facilitate the increased exchange of information with the population of the country on the one hand and will be tailored to the long-term communication goals of the Government of Georgia, on the other hand. Communication Strategy is based on the National Policy Document branded as Vision for 2030 - Development Strategy of Georgia, which was approved in 2023 by the Government of Georgia. It is aligned with a long-term development vision of the country, strategic priorities, aims and goals of further advancement.

One of the priority areas of the Strategy is to fight against the desinformation and fake news, to intensify efforts in the fight against desinformation and to develop the capacity of strategic communication units in public institutions towards this end.

Officials of Strategic Communication Units of government agencies were engaged in the development of the document, along with international and local experts, strategic communication officers of the National Security Council, Information Center on NATO and EU.

A system-specific study of strategic communication of government agencies has been carried out within the scope of the program funded by the US Department of State for the purposes of the strategy (Strategic Communications for a Better Future), which resulted in the identification of current challenges on the one hand and development opportunities in the area of strategic communication - on the other hand.
