In November 2023 the Consumer Price Index decreased by 0.2% compared to the previous month, while the annual inflation rate amounted to 0.1%. With regard to the annual core inflation, the prices increased by 2.1%, while the annual core inflation without tobacco amounted to 1.8%, writes GeoStat.
The monthly inflation rate was mainly influenced by price changes for the following groups:
Food and non-alcoholic beverages: the prices for the group decreased by 0.5%, contributing -0.13% to the overall monthly inflation rate. The prices decreased for the following subgroups: vegetables (-3.7%), fruit and grapes (-2.0%), sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery (-1.5%), fish (-0.8%), bread and cereals (-0.8%). At the same time, prices increased for coffee, tea and cocoa (0.6%), milk, cheese and eggs (0.5%), mineral waters, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices (0.5%), meat (0.4%);
Furnishings, household equipment and maintenance: the prices for the group decreased by 1.7%, contributing -0.09% to the overall monthly inflation rate. The prices decreased for the following subgroups: furniture and furnishings, carpets and other floor coverings (-3.2%), household appliances (-2.8%), glassware, tableware and household utensils (-1.2%), goods and services for routine household maintenance (-1.1%);
Health: the prices for the group decreased by 0.8%, with the relevant contribution of -0.08% to the monthly inflation rate. Within the group, the prices were lower for medical products, appliances and equipment (-1.5%);
Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels: the prices for the group increased by 0.9%, which contributed 0.09% to the monthly inflation rate. The prices were higher for the following subgroups: maintenance and repair of the dwelling (2.8%) and actual rentals for housing (1.0%).
The annual inflation rate was mainly influenced by price changes for the following groups:
Miscellaneous goods and services: the prices for the group increased by 9.8%, contributing 0.52% to the overall index. Within the group, the prices were higher mainly for the following subgroups: financial services n.e.c. (26.3%), personal effects n.e.c. (5.6%), personal care (5.2%);
Transport: prices for the group increased by 2.5%, contributing 0.37% to overall index. Within the group prices increased for transport services (4.3%), purchase of vehicles (2.9%) and operation of personal transport equipment (1.5%);
Alcoholic beverages and tobacco: the prices increased by 5.1%, with the relevant contribution of 0.35% to the overall index. The prices increased for both tobacco (6.5%) and alcoholic beverages (4.0%);
Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels: the prices for the group posted a 3.4% increase, which contributed 0.35% to the annual inflation rate. The prices were higher for the following subgroups: maintenance and repair of the dwelling (14.4%) and actual rentals for housing (7.4%);
Food and non-alcoholic beverages: the prices for the group decreased by 3.1%, contributing -1.08 percentage points to the overall annual inflation rate. The prices decreased for the following subgroups: oils and fats (-19.4%), vegetables (-11.7%), bread and cereals (-9.2%), milk, cheese and eggs (-3.5%), sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery (-2.5%). At the same time, the prices increased for the following subgroups: fruit and grapes (12.2%), meat (6.3%), fish (5.0%), mineral waters, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices (2.7%)
