Georgian Foreign Minister appreciated the placement of the Icon of the Mother of God of Iveria at the Vatican. Ilia Darchiashvili was leading the Georgian delegation to the Vatican for the inauguration ceremony of placement.

“We got the opportunity to present the ancient Georgian culture before the world of art in the Holy city, a space that carries cultural values ​​of world importance”, - said the Minister.

He also thanked Pope Francis on behalf of the Georgian Government for his personal contribution to this extremely important decision of placement.

The Icon was placed on the designated place of the Vatican city. It should be noted that negotiations were going on between both parties before the erection of the mosaic mural of Our Lady of Iveria in the Vatican.
