David Matikashvili, a representative of the parliamentary majority, responds to the statement of the Chairwoman of the Republican Party, Khatuna Samnidze, who said that there are people in the opposition who are talking behind closed doors with European partners about the fact that Georgia’s EU membership candidate status should be postponed.

“She had to make a very difficult confession. She admitted what we have repeatedly talked about the representatives of the radical and criminal opposition. Samnidze actually stated that there are modern Orjonikidzes who are enemies of their country, their homeland and people.

They go to the capitals of European countries and provide our strategic partners, our friends with false information, their wishes that Georgia should not get candidate status. This is exactly the goal they have. With this, they want to aggravate the situation, bring false feelings about the future of the country and then take advantage of the revolutionary motives, which they will never achieve. Samnidze’s statement is a confession, although it is not the first.

We have heard the statements of individual MPs and representatives of the criminal opposition quite recently, who directly said that Georgia should not receive candidate status, because it is not in their political dirty, destructive, interests. This is a statement equivalent to confession, and it is a direct proof of what we have repeatedly talked about and warned the public about”, - said David Matikashvili.
